I remember a defining moment when I was 14 years old. My sister and I were singing while Mum played the piano. I was enjoying myself when Mum said: “Shut up Maureen and let Janice sing. She’s got a better voice than you.” I was in a state of shock. It was like my power had drained out of me and I felt shut down. I stood aside while Janice sang and I felt humiliated and upset.

At the end of the song, Mum and Janice laughed at me and I felt more humiliated, more upset. I burst out crying and they kept laughing.

It took me years of personal development work to feel confident about my voice again.

Since then, other people have told me I have a lovely voice and although I believe them, I know I’m never going to sing like Lady Gaga, Rihanna or Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas. However that doesn’t matter because I’m a writer not a singer. And by the way, Janice never became a singer either.

Yes. You can get some idea about your archetype from online quizzes but the best way to discover your mentor archetype is to be guided in telling your story using the structure of the Hero’s Journey. I guide you to tell me your story using my Abbreviated Hero’s Journey Structure. How you dealt with obstacles and challenges on your journey reveals your mentor archetype.

How are you qualified to uncover my mentor archetype?

I studied psychology and Dr Carl Jung’s theory of archetypes and the collective unconscious at university and I learned the structure of the Hero’s Journey when I studied screenwriting.

I am the Sage/Explorer archetype. As the Sage, I help you better understand yourself and the world.

As the Explorer, I inspire you to explore unchartered territory. Some of my clients have told me I know them better than they know themselves.

Do I still need a copywriter if I can write?

I’d written articles on scuba diving, a short screenplay, and an eBook and thought I could easily write the copy for my website. Wrong! It wasn’t until I studied copywriting with Ray Edwards that I learned how to write really good copy. Writing a sales page requires high-level mastery of the psychology of persuasion, the essential elements of an offer, marketing, advertising, branding and so much more than you realise.

Do I still need a copywriter if my partner, relative or friend is a better writer than me?

#3 When I receive your deposit, I email you my questionnaire. Your responses to my questionnaire help me to understand who you are, what you have created and why you have created it.

I want to know how your product or program will improve the lives of people in your target market, what problem it solves and how it is different to or better than competing products or programs, so I can position you as an authority in your field.

The client questionnaire is research based, fun to complete and an important way for me to get to know you and your business. Please do block out time to think about your answers.

#4 When you have paid your deposit and emailed me your completed questionnaire, I will email you a link to my calendar, so you can choose a suitable time for us to talk on Skype video to discuss your project.

#5 After our Skype call or FaceTime, I will email you my Proposal/Copywriting Agreement that will outline the scope of your project and other details.

#6 You email me your sales page draft as a Google Doc. If you have not yet written a sales page, you will need to write a document that contains details of your offer.

#7 I rewrite your sales page and email you the first draft to edit using my Sales Page Toolkit.

#8 Final payment of $749 is required on delivery of the first draft. (Please note that the proposal includes 2 rounds of revisions to ensure you’re happy with the wording.)

#9 You pay your invoice of $749 and email me your revised draft. 

#10 I write a second draft and email you for any further editing.

#11 You email me the second draft with any changes.
